2019 is turning out to be one of the greatest years ever for world table tennis events!

The Liebherr 2017 World Championships staged in Düsseldorf, Germany between 29th May and 5th June smashed all social and viewership records. The tournament was followed by fans in 122 territories through television broadcasts and over-the-top (OTT) platform streaming, reaching a global audience of over 355.6 million. More than 58,000 fans enjoyed the incredible action in the Messe Düsseldorf creating an electric atmosphere in the custom-built arena.

Held since 1926, the World Championships are the most prestigious events in the international table tennis calendar. Team and Individual events are held in alternate years with over 120 countries competing.

The Seamaster ITTF World Tour boasts an increase in prize money across the 12 prestigious events in 2017, with the world’s top players aiming to qualify for the year ending World Tour Grand Finals in December.

The ITTF World Tour started in 1996 in England when it was known as the Pro Tour. Now in its 22nd year, events take place around the globe with the support of our strategic commercial partner Seamaster.

The Men’s & Women’s World Cups take place every year and will be held in Belgium and Canada respectively in October. Qualifying through their Continents, players aim to write their names in the history books and claim the prestigious World Cup title, just as Miu Hirano did last year in Philadelphia. Then we’ll move into 2018 when the World Team Cup, an event that takes every two years, when we return to a London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic venue in England in February.
