Success for Aurora Andrade and Ixchel Reyes was as anticipated; they commenced matters as the top seeds, in the final accounting for El Salvador’s Victoria Guevara and Cristina Machado, the no.2 seeds (8-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8, 11-6).

Earlier at the semi-final stage the Mexican duo had beaten colleagues Maria José Castillo and Dominique Reyes, the no.10 seeds (5-11, 4-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-8), the surprise quarter-final winners in opposition to Costa Rica’s Paula Gomez and Meredith Solis, the no.3 seeds (11-4, 11-7, 10-12, 9-11, 11-4). In the opposite half of the draw, Victoria Guevara and Cristina Machado had accounted for Guatemala’s Jenny Cux and Monica Mejia, the no.4 seeds (4-11, 11-7, 11-8, 12-10).

Gold for Aurora Andrade and Ixchel Reyes, as status advised; it was very different in the junior boys’ doubles competition. Dario Arce and Mauricio Cayetano occupied the no.10 seeded position.

At the quarter-final stage they ousted Costa Rica’s Daniel Araya and Bryan Solis, the no.3 seeds (12-10, 11-6, 11-9), prior to recording a semi-final win in opposition to the partnership in form; that of compatriots Luis Lomeli and Alberto Lopez (11-8, 11-5, 11-6). The no.7 seeds, one round earlier they had ended the hopes of Panama’s Jacobo Vahnish and Emilo Wong, the top seeds (5-11, 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 11-9).

A place in the final booked, the opportunity was seized; a straight games win in opposition to Sebastian Cano and Diego Vazquez, the no.6 seeds (11-8, 11-5, 11-7) sealed the title.

Earlier in the proceedings Sebastian Cano and Diego Vazquez had beaten El Salvador’s Enzo Leiva and Diego Orantes, the no.2 seeds (11-5, 13-11, 13-11), prior to reserving their place in the final courtesy of success against Guatemala’s Sergio Carrillo and Kevin Ruano (11-7, 11-6, 11-4).
