Successful earlier in the year in May at the Latin American qualification tournament for the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, Chile’s Nicolas Burgos is the prominent name at the forthcoming 2017 South American Youth Games.

He is the top seed in the Boys’ Singles event; in both the Boys’ Team and Boys’ Doubles competitions, in partnership with Andres Martinez, he heads the list, whilst lining up alongside Valentina Rios it is Mixed Doubles top spot. Proceedings start in Santiago on Wednesday 4th October and conclude on Sunday 8th October.

A strong challenge from Chile, even stronger; notably Andres Martinez is the second highest rated player on duty in the Boys’ Singles competition.

Next in line is the Argentine duo of Martin Bentancor and Leandro Fuentes. Brazil’s Guilherme Teodoro and Rafael Toroino followed by Peru’s Rodrigo Hidalgo and Uruguay’s Pablo Palou complete to the top eight names.

Leading the Girls’ Singles list is Ecuador’s Nathaly Paredes, recently on ITTF World Junior Circuit duty in Croatia and Slovenia, whilst in both the Girls’ Team and Girls’ Doubles events, the Brazilians, Beatriz Kimoto and Livia Lima occupy top spot.

Liva Lima is the second highest rated girl on duty; Paraguay’s Leyla Gomez and Argentina’s Camila Kaizoji are the next names on the list with Valentina Rios and Beatriz Kimoto being the respective fifth and sixth highest named. Peru’s Kelly Santur and Argentina’s Daniela Zapatero occupy the next two places.

In both the Boys’ Team and Boys’ Doubles events, Argentina’s Martin Bentancor and Leandro Fuentes are the second seeds; in the counterpart Girls’ Team and Girls’ Doubles competitions, it is Paraguay’s Karimi Apud and Leyla Gomez. Martin Bentancor and Camila Kaizoji are the second seeded Mixed Doubles pair.

The 2017 South American Youth Games are staged under the aegis of the Organización Deportiva Suramericana (ODESUR); all 14 National Olympic Committees in South America are eligible to be represented. Overall 20 sports, comprising 198 events in total are included in the extensive programme.
