The finalists decided the previous day, Giulia Takahashi maintain her unblemished record in the Under 13 Girls’ Team event; imposingly in the title deciding contest she guided Brazil to a three-one success against Peru.
She beat both Lucciana Cisneros (8-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-7) and Alejandra Prieto (11-3, 11-9, 11-3), whilst sandwiched in between joining forces with Beatriz Kanashiro to secure doubles success (11-4, 12-10, 11-4).
An impressive performance from Beatriz Kanashiro and Giulia Takahashi; in the final of the Under 13 Boys’ Team event it was the same from Gustavo Gertsmann and Shim Joon, a three-nil margin of victory was recorded against Mexico’s Rogelio Castro and Leonardo Perez.
Gustavo Gertsmann gave his team the ideal start by overcoming Rogelio Castro (11-8, 12-10, 11-6), before Shim Joon accounted for Leonardo Perez (2-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-5) and a doubles success ended matters (11-4, 12-10, 11-4).
No great moments of drama in the contest that secured the top prize; however, one round earlier life had been more exacting when facing Paraguay, A full distance three-two victory margin was the outcome with Elias Apud, the host nation player to pose the questions. He accounted for Gustavo Gertsmann (11-8, 12-10, 11-6) and in a thrilling contest overcame Shim Joon (5-11, 15-13, 8-11, 17-15, 12-10).
In the opposite half of the draw, in the penultimate round, Rogelio Castro and Leonardo Perez had beaten the Guatemalan pairing of Luis Ton and Diego de la Cruz by three matches to nil.
Play in the team events over; attention now turns to the individual events; play concludes on Saturday 30th September.
