A three matches to nil quarter-final success was recorded against the Brazil ‘A’ pairing of Mahayla Sarda and Karina Shiray, before in the penultimate round, the same margin of victory was posted in opposition to Mexico’s Natalia Dominguez and Ximena Figueroa.
Good form from Jenny Cux and Kimbely Garcia; it was the same from Angelica Arellano and Maria José Borja.
One fixture remaining in the group stage for the Ecuadorians, a three-nil success against the Argentina ‘B’ combination of Abril Iwasa and Isabella Lorenzo maintained the hitherto unbeaten record and thus secured top spot. A quarter-final place assured, a further three-nil win was the verdict against the Brazil ‘B’ partnership of Maria Chiquetto and Beatriz Fiore; before in opposition to the Peru ‘B’ outfit comprising Alejandra Chavez and Valentina Zea, a three-one win reserved a place in the final.
Meanwhile, in the counterpart Under 11 Boys’ Team event, play progressed to the quarter-final round on the second day of action with the Dominican Republic being the stand out nation.
Eduardo Darley and Ramon Vila on duty for the Dominican Republic ‘A’ excelled. They booked their place in the semi-finals, courtesy of a three-one success against the Colombian partnership of Samuel Ohlgisser and Nicolas Tauta.
Similarly, it was success for the Dominican Republic ‘B’ pairing of José Cabral and Radael Cabrera; they beat the Mexico ‘A’ Team duo of Jorge Buenrostro and Jorge Rodriguez but they were extended the full five matches. The thorn in the side of the Dominican Republic duo was Jorge Buenrostro, he accounted for both José Cabral (11-5, 11-8, 11-5) and Rafael Cabrera (11-1, 11-7, 11-3).
Likewise, there was a tough test for the Peru ‘A’ Team duo of Julio Villar and Renzo Zeballos; a three-two victory margin against the Argentina ‘A’ partnership of Nicolas Callaba and Thiago Peralta secured their penultimate round place. Hero of the hour for Peru was Julio Villar, in the opening match of the fixture, he recovered from a two games to nil deficit to beat Nicolas Callaba by the very narrowest of margins (7-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-8, 11-9), prior to in the fifth and decisive contest overcoming Jorge Rodriguez (12-10, 12-10, 14-12).
Close calls for the Dominican Republic ‘B’ and for Peru ‘A’, for the Brazil ‘A’ Team pairing Leonardo IIzuka and Guilherme Marchiori, in their quest for a last four place, life was less demanding.
They accounted for Guatemala’s Ricardo Gatica and Andy Moscoso by three matches to one.
At the semi-final stage, the Dominican Republic ‘A’ meets Brazil, the Dominican Republic ‘B’ opposes Peru ‘A’; play in the Under Boys’ Team and Under 11 Girls’ Team events conclude on Thursday 28th September.
