The Beijing Women’s Team continues their losing streak in the 2016 Chinese Super League after they posted their fourth consecutive defeat this season. They were defeated by Shandong Luneng in 3-1 in the sixteenth round of the proceedings scheduled on Sunday, 18th December.

Beijing was overwhelmed in the previous round despite their home court advantage and the presence of Ding Ning. In this round, Ding Ning was off duty.

Shandong Luneng actually did not have a good start in the battle. They lost the opening fixture as Sheng Dandan defeated Fan Siqi (13-11, 14-12, 5-11, 11-7). However, Luneng’s Zhu Yuling is very reliable. She offered two winning points.

Zhu Yuling defeated Li Jiayuan (9-11, 11-2, 11-8, 11-6) and Sheng Dandan (13-15, 11-7, 11-7, 7-11, 7-5). Luneng also got the Doubles match with Li Xiaodan and Gu Yuting (11-5, 11-6).

The Anxin Team solidified their fight for the playoffs this season. They did not just post a win in the latest round but pulled off a strong performance against the guest, Ordos.

The fans were treated with an exciting opener in the battle with Feng Yalan and Ordos’ foreign aide Feng Tianwei. It was a close encounter which led two strong players into the decider. In the end, Feng Yalan offered the first advantage to Anxin (11-8, 7-11, 11-6, 9-11, 7-3).

Liu Shiwen followed and swept her opponent Zhu Zhaohui in 11-9, 11-6, 11-7. Their Doubles pairing Feng Yalan and Liu Gaoyang sealed the victory after posting a 2-1 win in the third fixture (9-11, 11-5, 7-3).

The Bayi Team also posted a victory in the round even though they didn’t have the home court advantage. They defeated Shanxi. Mu Zi kicked off the battle with a powerful start of three games to nil against Jiang Yue (11-7, 11-5, 12-10).

Hu Limei was the second player for the Bayi Team. In the previous round, she had another successful feat against the Olympic champion Ding Ning. But in the latest round, she was defeated. She lost against Che Xiaoxi in 2-3 (11-7, 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 5-7).

Unfortunately, such match did not set the tone in favour of the Shanxi Team. Bayi’s tandem Liu Xin and Sun Mingyang won the Doubles (15-13, 11-3). Mu Zi  finished the round with a 3-1 victory against Che Xiaoxi (9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-6).

Shandong Qilu imposed their authority despite fighting in foreign territory. They swept the host, Sichuan.

Chen Xingtong swept Li Xiang in the first match (11-8, 11-7, 11-8). Wu Yang followed with another impressive 3-0 win over Guo Yan (11-6, 11-5, 11-4). Sealing the battle was the duo, Wen Jia and Chen Xingtong (11-3, 11-6).

Completing the list of victors was the Jilin Team. Wang Manyu was the first contributor for the Jilin Team against Shenzhen. She accounted for the defeat of Wang Yidi (6-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-7). Their pairing Chen Ke and Yuan Xuejiao won the Doubles (11-2, 5-11, 7-3). Wang Manyu returned into the arena for the fourth match. She overcame Chen Meng in 3-1 (9-11, 11-3, 11-5, 10-6).
