In Round 7 of the Chinese Super League, the Shandong derby in the men's league has left Shandong Weiqiao with its first loss of the season.

Men’s League

In the Shandong Derby match, Luneng led by 2015 World Championship silver medalist Fang Bo made a 3-1 victory over Weiqiao. Fang defeated Lin Gaoyuan 3-1 in the fourth game, securing the win for Luneng. It is Weiqiao’s first loss this season, yet the team still remains top of the leaderboard.

Ma Long contributed two points to Tianjin’s 3-1 win over Anhui. However he barely snuck over the line in both his encounters, with 3-2 wins against both Zhou Qihao and You Ziyang. Second placed Bayi had a convincing clean sweep 3-0 win over Shanghai. Led by Xu Xin, Shanghai has now had three consecutive losses. Meanwhile Shenzhen managed to see off Bazhou 3-2, while Jiangsu also secured a narrow 3-2 win over Sichuan.

Women’s League

Bayi’s Mu Zi pulled off an upset win over Wuhan’s Liu Shiwen to secure her team a 3-1 victory and give Wuhan their first loss of the season. Shandong Luneng led by Zhu Yuling continued their momentum, steamrolling Beijing 3-0, and maintaining their undefeated record. Meanwhile, Shenzhen, Jilin and Shanxi all notched up wins in their Round 7 encounters.
