In the final against the combination formed by Croatia’s Hana Arapovic and Hungary’s Dorottya Tolgyes, a 3-1 margin of victory was the outcome, Prithika Pavade being the backbone of the success. She accounted for both Dorottya Tolgyes (11-2, 11-3, 11-1) and Hana Arapovic (11-7, 11-5, 11-5), whilst sandwiched in between partnering Charlotte Lutz to doubles success (11-8, 11-8, 11-6).
However, earlier in the day, in the penultimate round it had been a somewhat different story; the full five matches had been needed to end the hopes of Romania’s Iona Singeorzan and Elena Zaharia. The player to cause the problems was Elena Zaharia, she accounted for both Charlotte Lutz (11-6, 13-11, 11-8) and Prithika Pavade (11-6, 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 12-10).
“We are very happy about the final, personally I think that I had a good match, I didn’t let my opponents have any chances; reaching the final was our goal; the most difficult match was against Romania.” Prithika Pavade
Pleased with her efforts, it was a similar response from Charlotte Lutz who, in the opening match in the final, had lost to Hana Arapovic (11-7, 11-5, 8-11, 8-11, 11-8).
“Even if I lost, I think that I also had a good match, we were stressed before the final but we gained in confidence and all the negativity went.” Charlotte Lutz
Most satisfied players; likewise Ludovic Rémy, the coach, was understandably pleased with the way the two young ladies had responded.
“The most difficult match was against Romania in semi-final. I’m really proud of their victory against Romania; it was a hard fight and a team effort. The girls are tired but it’s important to learn to play when you are tired. The objective is to prepare to the European Youth Championships which is 10 days of competition, so this is good preparation.” Ludovic Rémy
A hard fought journey to the final for Charlotte Lutz and Prithika Pavade; it had been the same for Hana Arapovic and Dorottya Tolgyes; in the penultimate round they had required the full five matches to halt the progress of the Russian outfit formed by Anastasia Beresnova, Vlada Voronina and Alina Zavarykina.
Proceedings come to an end on Sunday 14th April when the individual titles in the cadet age group events will be decided.
