An imposing performance in the final, it had been the same along the journey. In the later rounds she accounted for Rachel Sung of the United States, the no.13 seed (11-7, 13-11, 11-9, 11-7) and Wang Tianyi, likewise from China (7-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8) to reserve her place in the title decider.

Notably, earlier in the third round, Rachel Sung had beaten Italy’s Jamila Laurenti, the no.4 seed (11-6, 5-11, 12-10, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9) to reserve her place in the quarter-finals. Similarly, Wang Tianyi who had been required to compete in the qualification group stage, had recorded a quarter-final success in opposition Poland’s Anna Wegrzyn, the no.2 seed (12-10, 11-2, 11-4, 11-6).

Meanwhile, in the opposite half of the draw, Wu Yangchen had secured a last eight win over Germany’s Sophia Klee (11-8, 12-10, 7-11, 11-3, 11-8), prior to overcoming Amy Wang of the United States, the top seed (12-14, 11-4, 4-11, 11-8, 11-1, 11-5, 11-6) to reserve her place in the final. A seven games defeat for Amy Wang against Chinese opposition, one round earlier it had been a seven games win in opposition to a Chinese adversary. She had beaten Kuai Man (11-9, 8-11, 7-11, 11-9, 6-11, 12-10, 12-10) the player who currently stands in top spot on the under 15 girls’ world rankings.

Defeat for Amy Wang but most creditable performances; it was the same from Sophia Klee who like Kuai Man and Wang Tianyi had been required to compete in the group qualification event. Earlier in the second round Sophia Klee had beaten the Czech Republic’s Zdena Blaskova, the no.3 seed (11-9, 11-4, 15-13, 14-12) prior to ousting Slovakia’s Ema Labosova (10-12, 11-6, 11-9, 11-9, 13-11).

Success for Chen Yi, her first such ITTF World Junior Circuit title and there was further success for the 15 year old, she partnered Wang Tianyi to junior girls’ doubles gold; in the final they beat colleagues Kuai Man and Wu Yangchen (11-7, 7-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-4).

The junior girls’ singles event concluded, the junior girls’ team and cadet girls’ team events now follow.
