Likewise for the other leading names it was top spot in the group; notably Chinese Taipei’s Li Hsin-Yu remained unbeaten to secure pole position as did the Iranian duo of Navid Shams and Raddin Khayyam.

However, further down the order there were somewhat surprise names who ended the day in group first places.

Also from Iran it was top spot contrary to expectations for Mobin Alipourghalehjough, as it was for colleague Mohammadjavad Sohrabi. Similarly, China’s Li Shijie and Li Mao Chao raised the eyebrows to reserve first positions as did Chinese Taipei’s Wang Guan-Ru and Wang Chen-You.

A day without blemish for Payas Jain but in the counterpart Cadet Girls’ Team event, for colleague and top seed, Diya Parag Chitale, there was defeat. She was beaten by China’s Sui Xiaoran in a close five games duel (11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 5-11, 11-9). However, it was the only reverse for Diya Parag Chitale, second place behind the unbeaten Sui Xiaoran and progress to the main draw was thus achieved.

Meanwhile, in the remaining Cadet Girls’ Singles groups it was first place for Chinese Taipei’s Huang Yu-Jie and India’s Nithya Mani but, as with their male counterparts, there were surprises.

Somewhat unexpectedly Tsai Yun-En topped her group as did Swastika Ghosh, also from India. Similarly, Zhang Yulei and Wang Guining emulated compatriot Sui Xiaran to secure first place in their respective groups contrary to predictions.
