Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is some 130 kilometres distant, a mini bus service is available to Deli Railway Station from where there is a direct rail service to Balatonfured.
Closer is Hevíz–Balaton Airport, 80 kilometres distant, from which by contacting the official hotel for the Championships, the Marina, a taxi service is available.
The Tournament Director is Ferenc Karsai who following the conclusion of the competition, alongside Peter Aranyosi and Attilla Halmai will conduct a five day Training Camp. Proceedings commence on Sunday 15th July and conclude on Thursday 19th July.
Play at the 2018 Tibhar Cup Veteran Championships will commence with Mixed Doubles events; on the second day of play the focus will be on Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles competitions, on the third day, Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles will conclude the itinerary.
Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles will be played in the following age groups: 40 – 49 years, 50 – 59 years, 60 – 64 years, 65 – 69 years, 70 – 74 years, 75 – 79 years, 80 – 84 years plus 85 years and over. The Mixed Doubles event will held in the 40 years and over category.
Eligibility is defined by age at the time of the tournament, less than five players in any age category will result in the event being cancelled and the player or players entered in the next youngest category. Doubles pairs not in the same age category will play in the younger category.
All events will be played in two stages, group phase followed by knock-out. Players finishing in first and second places advance to the main draw, all others to the consolation event.
Play will take place on 16 Tibhar tables; the Referee for the tournament is Istvan Bajdik.
The closing date for entries is Wednesday 27th June.
