The I.B.B Hidayet Turkoglu Sport Complex in Istanbul played host to the 2018 Turkish National Table Tennis Championships on Tuesday 9th January as the country’s star players battled it out for national glory including Sibel Altinkaya who came away with her fourth consecutive Women’s Singles trophy at the event.

Sibel Altinkaya saw off Gulpembe Ozkaya in the final by a commanding four games to nil scoreline as Fenerbahce S.K. secured the top two steps of the Women’s Singles podium, while the bronze medal ended up in the hands of Simay Kulakceken.

Four straight titles for Sibel Altinkaya, as for Ibrahim Gunduz it is back-to-back Men’s Singles gold medals at the tournament.

Facing Besiktas J.K. team-mate Abdullah Talha Yigenler in the title match, Ibrahim Gunduz put in a strong display across six games to emerge as champion in the category for the second year in a row.

Ibrahim Gunduz and Abdullah Talha Yigenler also impressed in the Men’s Doubles draw, coming out of the event as the winning partnership while the Women’s Doubles title was awarded to the pairing of Ozge Yilmaz and Betul Nur Kahraman.

Spectators at the venue were treated to an excellent day of top level table tennis in Istanbul and fans who weren’t able to attend were also able to get in on the action with the semi-finals and finals of the tournament shown live on Turkish television.
