Semi-finalist earlier in the year in July at ITTF-Africa Cup in Agadir, in recent years Mohamed El-Beiali has now become an established member of the Egyptian national team.

Additional to competing in the Moroccan city, two months prior he was on duty at the Liebherr World Championships; a tournament where he advanced through the qualification stages before experiencing a first round defeat at the hands of Russia’s Alexander Shibaev.

Motivated to reach a higher level; in common with several other African players, he will ply his trade in Europe for the 2017-2018 season. Previously on duty in the Turkish League, he now joins P. W. Diest in the Belgian League.

He spoke to Olalekan Okusan, the ITTF-Press Officer

“I am now going to play for P.W Diest in the Belgian League and I hope I can replicate what I achieved in the Turkey last season by winning the league. Table tennis has given me a lot of experience in life and this sport for me is making everything possible.

Table tennis in Africa now, I think has improved a lot because we have two of the world’s best, Quadri Aruna and Omar Assar among the top 40 in the world. Apart from their quality their fame has made the game popular in Africa.

My dream and goal is to make it to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Japan and also help my national team to finish well at the 2018 World Team Championships in Sweden. I believe we can make it to the Championship Division. I am also aiming to win the Africa Cup and represent Africa at the ITTF World Cup.

By the end of the year, I want to be among the top 100 in the world; my target for 2018 is to win a place in the ITTF World Cup.”
