Zhu Yuling (CHN) was able to leapfrog the number two seed Liu Shiwen (CHN) and book herself a place in the final after winning a seven game thriller 10-12,11-9,7-11,11-8,8-11,11-9,11-5.

Zhu was behind the entire match, dropping the first game and playing catch up from then on in. It was support from the crowd that kept her in good spirits and remaining confident.

“When i was behind, even though concentrating, i could hear my fans cheering and supporting me, and I want to thank them so much.” Zhu Yuling

The win was also sweet revenge for Zhu, who had lost to Liu at the last two World Championships.

“This is my third World Championship. The other two times I played I lost to Liu Shiwen. This time going in I was thinking I cant give up and thats what I did. I’m very proud.” Zhu Yuling
