The 2017 ITTF African Junior and Cadet Championships commence on Sunday 9th April at the El Menzah Dome in Tunis, Tunisia and one of the strong forces in the seeding table is Egypt with the country aiming to take home yet more silverware from the event.

Group One of the Under 21 Boys’ Team category sees Egypt joined by Algeria and Nigeria, while over in Group Two the host nation Tunisia will take on Cote D’Ivoire on the opening day before facing Congo Brazzaville and Libya the following day.

There is just the one group in the Under 21 Girls’ Team draw with Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire all set to meet.

Topping the Junior Boys’ Team competition the Egyptian squad will meet Sierra Leone and Congo Democratic in the group stages of the event, and in Group One of the Junior Girls’ Team tournament Egypt will come up against Nigeria and South Africa.

Across in the Cadet Boys’ Team event Algeria has been placed alongside Sierra Leone and Mauritius in Group One, while the Algerians go head-to-head with Mauritius, Nigeria and Egypt in the Cadet Girls’ Team competition.

Following the conclusion of the team draws will come the singles and doubles tournaments.

Leading the way in the Under 21 Boys’ Singles and Under 21 Girls’ Singles is Egypt’s Aly Ghalab and Aida Rahmo, and the country also has contestants at the top of the Junior Boys’ Singles and Junior Girls’ Singles competitions with Youssef Abdel-Aziz and Mariam Alhodaby sitting top of the categories.

Algeria and Tunisia are the top seeds for the Cadet Boys’ Singles and Cadet Girls’ Singles through Abdelbasset Chaichi and Manel Baklouti respectively.
