The most southerly capital city in the whole of the American continent, Montevideo also the largest conurbation in Uruguay, was the recent home for an ITTF/PTT Level One Coaches Course.

Organised under the auspices of the ITTF Development Programme, proceedings commenced on Saturday 10th December and concluded on Wednesday 14th December; the expert on duty was the highly motivated Gonzalo Lorenzotti.

A total of 13 students travelled from throughout the country to attend the course which was staged in the LTM Club. Six table tennis tables and 400 balls were available.

Notably the LTM Club (Lorenzotti Tenis de Mesa) was founded by the Lorenzotti family several years ago in an effort to promote the sport of table tennis in the small South American country. Notably, guided by Gonzalo, Maria Pia Lorenzotti competed in the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

“The participants were totally involved; they worked with dedication during every session. They showed commitment and interest in the topics concerned”, Gonzalo Lorenzotti.

Throughout there was a positive response from all members of the group whether in the theory or practical sessions; as with similar courses the Para element was well received.

Overall, it was a most successful initiative; a practical test brought matters to a conclusion.
