Staged at the Lindner Hotel Airport in Düsseldorf, Germany; the 15th ITTF Sports Science Congress will be held on Saturday 27th May and Sunday 28th May 2017.

Table tennis is attractive at both the competitive and recreational level but poses many challenges owing to the physical demands of performance as well as the injuries that can occur to participants. Therefore, table tennis is of great interest to sports scientists, physicians, therapists and athletic trainers in addition to strength and conditioning coaches.

Dr Miran Kondric, Chair ITTF Sport Science and Medical Committee

Also of interest to table tennis are the effects of equipment design, playing surfaces, shoes and other interfaces between the player and the game. New technology means sports evolve in new and different ways, perhaps requiring different training methods which may cause varying injuries.

The Congress will provide up-to-date information on current applications of sports science with regards to table tennis. Presentations and posters will provide the participant an opportunity to see the application of ideas whenever possible.

 Who should attend?

The Congress aims to bring together those with an interest in current developments and application of scientific principles to table tennis and will include sports scientists, researchers, coaches, therapists, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches plus others who may be interested in the science of table tennis.
