Great start for the host nation in Junior and Cadet girls Team events. Competition amongst the two countries was intense, girls from Chinese Taipei proved their supremacy in the Junior category while Indian Girls emerged triumphant in Cadet team event.

Chinese Taipei dominate Junior Girls

The boys had a bit of disappointment but the Girls from Chinese Taipei dominated the Junior Girls Team event in the group stage on the Opening Day at Indore. Both Chinese Taipei A and B teams secured the top position in their respective groups to qualify for the second stage.

Chinese Taipei A comprised of Wu Yi-Hua and Yang Ya-Yan beat India-F (3-0), India-E (3-1) and India-A (3-0) to secure the first position in Group A. In the three team matches on day one, Wu Yi-Hua played a total of 4 singles and won 3 of them. Yang Ya-Yan on the other hand, played three singles and won all of them. With a high won percentage, the girls from Chinese Taipei seem to be favorites to get home the gold.

In group B, Chinese Taipei B, comprised of Chen Ying-Chen and Su Pei-Ling won all three team matches against India-D (3-0), India-B (3-2) and India-B (3-0) thus securing the top spot in the group.

Top two teams from each group qualifies for the semi finals. Thus, Chinese Taipei-A, India-E, Chinese Taipei-B and India-C will contest in the semi final round to be played on 8th September at 2pm IST.

Indians prove their mettle

In the Group A of Cadet Girls team event, India-B emerged victorious winning both their matches against Chinese Taipei-B and India-E respectively. The duo of Ishita Gupta and Swastika Ghosh looked unstoppable as they surpassed their opponents without dropping a single game, winning both matches three games to nil.

India-B along with Chinese Taipei-B progress to the semi finals stage in the Cadet girls team event.

In Group B, matters were reversed with Chinese Taipei-A winning against India-A (3-0), India-C (3-2) and India-D (3-1). Thus in group B, Chinese Taipei finished top position and India-A secured second moving ahead to the semi final stage.

With both India and Chinese Taipei emerging strong in their respective groups, the semi finals clash will be a close contest.

Matches will be played on 8th September at 11.30am IST.
