The general aim of research in table tennis and exercise medicine is to present an evidence-based view of the beneficial and adverse effects of physical activity and exercise training on a player’s health.

Each aspect of training and the game links theory (sport science) with practice (training and performance) in order to demonstrate the impact science can have on performance at the elite level.

ITTF Sports Science and Medical Committee announced the Congress a year ago and by deadline over 130 abstracts have been received. After the review process 101 submissions have been accepted and will be presented as oral or poster presentation; to date 90 participants are registered.

“We are more than happy to have such a large number of participants. Our wish was to welcome around 50 to 60 authors but now as we are approaching almost 100 participants, we are delighted to be successful in our advertising. We have authors from 22 countries and they have announced 101 papers.” reported Michael Fuchs (Organizing Committee).

From the viewpoint of sport psychology sports medicine, nutrition, performance analysis, physiology, talent identification, strength and conditioning and biomechanics; not only do we carry out the scientific support for young and elite players but also for coaches in table tennis.

The support of scientific results will improve the work of coaches and players in line of effective and healthier training processes

We are looking for another successful congress and interesting discussions.
