Dakar Expo

Dakar, Senegal

Table tennis makes its exciting debut on African soil when the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games showcase the sport’s brightest young talents from across the globe. The competition will mark table tennis’s fifth appearance at the Youth Olympic Games since its induction at the inaugural Singapore 2010 edition, featuring singles and mixed team events for both boys and girls, with qualification determined through continental and international tournaments as well as world rankings.

Building on the success of previous editions – including the 2018 Buenos Aires YOG where China’s Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin claimed the singles gold, with both athletes now the reigning ITTF World Champions in their respective events – Dakar 2026 represents a historic milestone for both table tennis and African sport. As the first Youth Olympic Games held on the African continent, the event provides an unprecedented platform to inspire young players across Africa whilst celebrating the continent’s growing table tennis talent. The Games promise to deliver world-class youth competition in a groundbreaking setting, fostering the next generation of champions and strengthening table tennis’s global development through the Olympic movement’s youth-focused celebration of sport and culture.
