The day after the conclusion of the ITTF Annual General Meeting 2025, the ITTF Executive Board convened its first meeting of the new term, during which President Petra Sörling re-appointed Liu Guoliang as ITTF Deputy President.
Chaired by President Sörling and attended by all eight newly elected Executive Vice Presidents, the meeting brought the new team together, signalling a clear message of unity, resolve, and collective responsibility.
“The membership has entrusted this Executive Board with a clear mandate for the next four years, and our work has already begun,” said ITTF President Petra Sörling. “By meeting immediately after the AGM, we are sending a message of stability, unity, and shared responsibility. Important changes are being prepared for the federation, and this Board will focus on progress that will be felt by our Member Associations and players.
“I am pleased to re-appoint Liu Guoliang as Deputy President. His experience, his understanding of our sport, and his long-standing commitment to the ITTF are important assets for our organisation. Over the past years, we have formed a strong, complementary duo at the helm of our sport, and we are delighted to lead this new, diverse team, which brings many strengths to the table.”
Liu Guoliang was elected as the ITTF Executive Vice President in 2021 and appointed as the ITTF Deputy President in 2022. On November 16, 2025, he was re-appointed as the ITTF Deputy President after being re-elected as the ITTF Executive Vice President.

On his re-appointment as Deputy President, Liu Guoliang stated, “It is a great honour to be appointed by ITTF President Petra Sörling as the ITTF Deputy President. This reflects the trust and recognition of the ITTF in my work over the past four years. Next year marks the centenary of the ITTF, signifying that global table tennis is entering a new historical era, where both opportunities and challenges coexist. I will continue to spare no effort in working with the ITTF President and the Executive Board to promote the development of table tennis on the global sports stage.”
The Board confirmed that work will continue to accelerate in the coming weeks on a series of strategic projects, including the ongoing constitutional reform, the refinement of key portfolios, and initiatives linked to the ITTF’s centenary celebrations.
With its first meeting held immediately after the AGM, the ITTF Executive Board has set a clear and committed tone under the leadership of President Sörling, ready to deliver benefits for table tennis worldwide.
