The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) President’s Advisory Commission is maintaining strong momentum in advancing its mission to develop recommendations for the creation of the Marketing Committee, following the decision of the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

ITTF President Petra Sörling and Advisory Commission Chair HRH Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Nasser Al Saud, President of the Saudi Table Tennis Federation, recently met to exchange views on the future of the Federation’s marketing strategy.

Taking place just one month after his appointment, the meeting provided HRH Prince Mohammed with the opportunity to present his initial strategic work, centred on the core concept of converting audiences into engaged participants.

The discussion explored a broad range of perspectives aimed at unlocking the full potential of table tennis, from strengthening participation pathways to positioning the sport as a global lifestyle choice. Among the themes addressed were the unique strengths of table tennis—its inclusivity, year-round accessibility, and space-smart appeal—and the opportunities to elevate its visibility, deepen audience engagement, and expand its market presence.

Prince Mohammed shared research and insights highlighting the scale of the sport’s global audience, as well as the untapped opportunities to translate strong viewership into more active participation. This included research on the overall market valuation of table tennis and comparative studies with other racket sports, offering further perspective on the opportunities for growth. His presentation also underlined the potential for innovative campaigns and partnerships to enhance the sport’s image, connect with new communities, and reinforce its identity as a modern active lifestyle pursuit.

President Sörling welcomed the exchange and encouraged Prince Mohammed to continue refining his analysis and proposals toward recommendations for the Marketing Committee.

“These discussions are an important first step in building the framework for our future Marketing Committee. Our members made their voices heard at the AGM, and now we are moving forward by listening, reflecting, and preparing. I am grateful to Prince Mohammed for his vision, fresh perspective, and commitment to this process, which will benefit the entire global table tennis family.”

The Advisory Commission will continue its work in the coming months, gathering input and perspectives from across the ITTF family. Also involved in this process will be Mr Cyrus Muwanga, President of the Uganda Table Tennis Association, representing the Member Association that initiated the proposition for the creation of the Marketing Committee, ensuring that the perspective of the originator of this important initiative is integrated into the Advisory Commission’s ongoing work.

The recommendations will form the foundation for the new Marketing Committee, set to become a permanent body of the ITTF as of 1 January 2026.
