The countdown is officially on! With exactly 150 days remaining until the ITTF World Youth Championships 2025, Cluj-Napoca, Romania is preparing to welcome the world's brightest young table tennis talents from 23-30 November 2025.

The excitement is building as we approach what promises to be a spectacular showcase of emerging talent. The championships are scheduled for 23-30 November 2025, and Romania is ready to deliver an unforgettable experience that blends the country’s rich table tennis heritage with world-class hospitality.

Romania’s Rising Stars Look to Build on Historic Success

The Romanian delegation arrives at this home championship with momentum and confidence following their impressive performance at the ITTF World Youth Championships Finals 2024 in Helsingborg, Sweden. The Romanian U19 boys’ team claimed bronze in the team event, with Iulian Chirița, Darius Movileanu, Dragoș Bujor, and Andrei Istrate.

Their journey to the podium was nothing short of remarkable. After defeating Brazil 3-1 in the Round of 16, they overcame France in a thrilling 3-2 quarter-final victory, with Darius Movileanu securing the crucial win over Flavien Coton in a five-set thriller (11-3, 10-12, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8), before Iulian Chirița sealed the victory against Nathan Lam. Though they fell to eventual champions China 0-3 in the semi-finals, their bronze medal achievement marked a historic moment for Romanian table tennis.

This bronze medal continues Romania’s proud tradition at the ITTF World Youth Championships, building on the legacy established by Elena Zaharia’s silver medal in U19 girls’ singles and Eduard Ionescu’s bronze in Slovenia at the previous edition.

A Championship with Global Significance

Following the historic achievements witnessed at Helsingborg 2024 – where Germany’s Annett Kaufmann became the first non-Asian Under-19 Girls’ Singles champion and new milestones were set for African and Pan-American table tennis – the stage is set for another spectacular showcase of emerging talent.
