Kazakhstan will host the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals, marking the first time this flagship event will take place in Central Asia.

Kazakhstan secured the hosting rights with a commanding 54.68% of the vote in the final round, defeating France who received 45.32%. The path to victory saw the United States eliminated in the first round, while Brazil, another initial contender, strategically withdrew its bid during the summit to support Kazakhstan’s candidacy and focus on securing the 2029 edition.

The voting process demonstrated the global table tennis community’s confidence in Kazakhstan’s ability to deliver a world-class championship experience in a new region for the sport.

During Kazakhstan’s bid presentation, Daniyar Abulgazin, President of the Kazakhstan Table Tennis Federation, outlined the country’s long-term commitment to developing the sport and its proven capacity to host events of global scale. “This is more than an ambitious goal. It’s our sincere belief in the power of sport to unite people, cross borders, and inspire generations,” Abulgazin said. “It is our contribution to the development of global table tennis as a dynamically evolving activity and as an engaged member of the international ITTF family.”

The selection of Astana represents the ITTF’s continued commitment to expanding table tennis’s global footprint. Bringing the World Championships to Central Asia for the first time opens new opportunities for regional development and demonstrates the sport’s truly international character.

Kazakhstan’s successful bid reflects the nation’s growing prominence in international sport and its investment in world-class sporting infrastructure capable of hosting premier global events.

The ITTF World Championships Finals 2027 in Kazakhstan promises to be a landmark event, introducing Central Asian audiences to the highest level of table tennis competition while providing a platform for the region’s emerging talent to compete on home soil against the world’s best players.
