The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), in close collaboration with the Sustainability Working Group of the International Federation of Table Tennis Equipment Manufacturers (FIT), is proud to announce the launch of the ITTF Sustainability Pledge for Table Tennis Equipment Brands and Manufacturers at the ITTF World Championships 2025 in Qatar.
This collaborative initiative marks a significant step forward in uniting the global table tennis industry around a shared commitment to environmental and social responsibility. The pledge is designed to serve as a mutual framework for driving sustainable practices in the production and lifecycle of table tennis equipment.
A Call to Action for Equipment Manufacturers
The ITTF recognizes equipment brands and manufacturers not only as essential partners in the sport but also as key drivers of innovation and sustainability. With this pledge, we invite all ITTF-accredited table tennis equipment brands and manufacturers to join them in working together in shaping a future-ready sport that prioritizes ethical, responsible, and environmentally conscious practices.
This voluntary commitment goes beyond compliance, calling for proactive leadership in three core areas:
- Ethical and Fair Practices
- Respecting human rights, ensuring fair labour conditions, and eliminating harmful substances from manufacturing processes.
- Environmental Responsibility
- Committing to reduce environmental impacts by advancing at least two priority actions outlined in Annex 1: Environmental Practice Areas.
- Continuous Improvement
- Embedding sustainability into business strategies, collaborating with ITTF and stakeholders, and promoting sustainable products through development and foundation programs.
Signatories are also encouraged to uphold transparency and avoid greenwashing, guided by Annex 2: Building a Strong Reputation Together.
This pledge represents more than a statement of intent—it is a shared roadmap toward a greener, more sustainable future for the sport. The FIT Sustainability Working Group and ITTF are united in their appreciation for the proactive role that many manufacturers already play and are confident this pledge will further accelerate progress across the industry.
“We believe that sustainability is not a destination but a journey we must take together. By signing this pledge, manufacturers signal their commitment to aligning with ITTF and taking a leading role in sustainability and help build a legacy of responsibility that benefits players, fans, communities, and the planet.” ITTF President Ms. Petra Sörling
FIT President Mr. Andreas Hain said: “We want to lead and be a driving force in sustainability, pushing ITTF and WTT in this area. This is a good start, and I hope all FIT members will sign but now the hard work begins.”
