Day 7 of the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals Doha 2025 promises to deliver another thrilling chapter as the quarterfinal stage takes centre stage, with a packed schedule featuring compelling matchups across all five disciplines.

The day begins with Mixed Doubles semifinal action at 11:00 (GMT+3), featuring two compelling encounters. Defending champions Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha face Korea Republic’s Lim Jonghoon and Shin Yubin in a repeat of their Paris 2024 Olympic semifinal, while Japan’s surprise package Maharu Yoshimura and Satsuki Odo take on Hong Kong, China’s experienced pair Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem, who are three-time World Championships Finals bronze medallists.

Egypt’s Youssef Abdelaziz and Mohamed Elbeiali continue their historic campaign as the first African pair to reach World Championships Men’s Doubles quarterfinals since 1951, facing Japan’s second seeds Hiroto Shinozuka and Shunsuke Togami at 12:30 (GMT+3). Their remarkable journey has already made headlines, and a semifinal berth would further cement their place in table tennis history.

The French Lebrun brothers aim to bounce back from Felix’s singles disappointment when they take on Sweden’s 14th seeds Mattias Falck and Kristian Karlsson in the other Men’s Doubles quarterfinal. The world number one doubles pair will be determined to keep their championship hopes alive after Felix’s shock exit from the singles.

Women’s Singles action intensifies with four quarterfinal matches featuring a fascinating mix of established stars and rising talents. Japan’s 16-year-old sensation Miwa Harimoto faces her toughest test yet against 2021 World Champion Wang Manyu at 16:30 (GMT+3), having never defeated the Chinese star in five previous encounters.

Defending champion Sun Yingsha takes on Japan’s seventh seed Satsuki Odo, while the other quarterfinals pit experienced campaigners against each other as Mima Ito faces Wang Yidi and Chen Xingtong meets Hina Hayata, with all three previous encounters between the latter pair going the full distance.

The Men’s Singles quarterfinals promise exceptional drama, beginning with world number one Lin Shidong facing compatriot Liang Jingkun at 13:10 (GMT+3). The experienced Liang, a three-time World Championships bronze medallist, will be eager to upset the tournament favourite in this all-Chinese affair.

Korea Republic’s An Jaehyun continues his remarkable run against Brazil’s third seed Hugo Calderano at 18:30 (GMT+3). An, who has already accumulated over four hours of match time with three seven-game battles, faces his biggest challenge yet against the recent ITTF Men’s World Cup champion.

The evening concludes with Japan’s Shunsuke Togami taking on Sweden’s Olympic silver medallist Truls Moregard at 17:50 (GMT+3). Moregard looks to extend his winning streak against Togami to four matches, while the Japanese player aims to continue his impressive breakthrough campaign.

Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun-Ju, having already achieved his personal best World Championships result, faces 2023 runner-up Wang Chuqin at 17:10 (GMT+3), with the Chinese star seeking redemption after his silver medal finish two years ago.

With semifinal spots at stake across all events and several compelling storylines unfolding, including historic African representation and generational clashes, Day 7 promises to deliver world-class table tennis action that could reshape the championship landscape.
