Two competitors who narrowly missed out on passage to the title decider, Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun-Ju and Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov, will be desperate to end their campaigns on a positive note.

Set to meet in the bronze medal match at 20.00 local time, will it be a first Olympic Games medal for Lin, or will Ovtcharov replicate his bronze medal finish from London 2012?

Then, from 21.00, it’s time for the match we’ve all been waiting for as China’s elite clash in the gold medal showdown.

Top seed Fan Zhendong looks to dethrone defending champion Ma Long in an unmissable bout, but the latter is chasing history as he aims to become the first player to win Men’s Singles gold twice on the grandest of stages.
