World Table Tennis (WTT) welcomes on board senior sports media professional Melissa Soobratty, who will lead WTT’s overall media strategy as international table tennis enters a brand-new era.

She has accrued a wealth of experience in the fields of sports media, OTT, business development and production, among others, and her addition to WTT in overseeing all areas related to content will help to drive forward and further professionalise the organisation’s vastly expanding media operations.

Melissa joins WTT from her role as Vice President, Media at Football Marketing Asia (FMA), the exclusive commercial partner of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). She contributed to the commercialisation and marketing of premier football competitions across the Asian continent as well as the digital and social media strategy.

Her prior position was as Business Development Director, APAC at Endeavor Streaming, formerly known as NeuLion, where she mapped out the strategy for the pan-APAC introduction of the organisation’s innovative OTT platform, providing digital video broadcasting, distribution and monetisation of live and on-demand content.

Melissa also negotiated several significant TV rights deals for StarHub, where, as AVP, Sport Content, she oversaw multiple facets of the telecommunications company’s content and broadcast strategy.

“WTT has ambitious plans to propel table tennis to the next level in sport and beyond, not least in the way that it aims to cultivate and grow its global audience through cutting-edge content across all of WTT’s media channels. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and working together with the team and the WTT partners.” – Melissa Soobratty, WTT Senior Media Director

“We are delighted to be welcoming on board Melissa for the start of our journey at WTT. She brings wide-reaching and invaluable experience across the sports media sector and she will be an enormous asset to WTT, where we are building a very talented team of professionals to help drive our sport on to the next level in its exciting development.” – Matt Pound, WTT Director

WTT is embarking on an innovative media and marketing strategy, bolstered by its long-term partnership with IMG, a global leader in sports, fashion, events and media, which commences in January 2021.

Additional partnerships with Philippe Le Floc’h160over90, Pumpjack Dataworks, Gemba and Superunion also serve to revolutionise the player and fan experience around table tennis, which is at the forefront of everything that WTT is striving to achieve.

Everyone at WTT wishes Melissa the very best in her role and looks forward to working together to transform the world of table tennis.
