The ITTF Executive Committee met on Wednesday 15th April 2020 to discuss the latest situation regarding COVID-19.

Here are the key outcomes reached during today’s meeting:

• The ITTF received a comprehensive update report from the COVID-19 Task Force, which continues to monitor the global situation closely. No further decisions on extending the period of inactivity have been made at this stage.

• Due to the current suspension of ITTF events in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Rankings for April 2020 will be released by the end of this week, then frozen until activities resume.

• The ITTF is working closely with the Korea Table Tennis Association (KTTA), led by president Ryu Seung-min, and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) in Busan to ensure that the Hana Bank 2020 World Team Table Tennis Championships take place, even if the event needs to be postponed again.

• In line with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), and following discussions with the Continental Federations and ITTF Athletes Commission, the ITTF agreed to keep the principles of the Olympic and Paralympic Qualification events, with those pending events likely to be scheduled in 2021.

The ITTF Executive Committee will meet again on 1st May 2020 and the ITTF will continue to provide further updates on all upcoming decisions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
