At the semi-final stage she overcame both Jerusalen Flores (11-6, 11-4, 15-13) and Valentina Rios (2-11, 11-9, 12-10, 7-11, 11-7), as a 3-1 win was posted against Chile, the top seeds. The one further success for Ecuador was recorded by Alejandra Veintimilla in the third match of the fixture; she accounted for Macarena Montecino (11-5, 7-11, 6-11, 11-9, 11-6).
A place in the final booked, Brazil, the second seeds, awaited; the outfit against whom the Ecuadorians had suffered a three-nil defeat in the group phase one day earlier. Notably in the opening match, Nathaly Paredes had experienced defeat by the minimal two point margin in the deciding game when facing Tamyres Fukase (11-8, 11-7, 10-12, 7-11, 12-10); on the second day of action she set the record straight.
She beat Tamyres Fukase in three straight games (11-6, 11-5, 11-7), before, following success for Alejandra Veintimilla against Lais Mika Yuta (8-11, 11-9, 11-13, 13-11, 11-8), returning to the table to overcome Livia Lima (12-14, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7) and thus sealing the victory.
Earlier in the counterpart semi-final, the same three players in action, Brazil had accounted for the third seeds, the Paraguayan trio comprising Karimi Apud, Leyla Gomez and Cielo Mutti in a full distance five match contest.
The player to cause the Brazilians problems was Leyla Gomez; she beat both Tamyres Fukase (11-8, 11-9, 4-11, 9-11, 11-7) and Livia Lima (11-8, 6-11, 11-6, 11-13, 11-9).
Team events concluded, the individual events now commence. Play concludes in Santiago on Monday 18th March.
