First place in the initial phase group without the loss of a single individual match; in the junior boys’ team event, life was only slightly more difficult for the Brazilians in the main draw.

The no.2 seeds; selecting Rafael Torino, Guilherme Teodoro and Lauro Sebold, a 3-1 penultimate round win was recorded against the no.4 seeds, the Peruvian combination of Felipe Duffoo, Adolfo Cucho and Rodrigo Bejarno. The player to cause the Brazilians problems being Adolfo Cucho, in the second match of the fixture he accounted for Guilherme Teodoro (11-9, 9-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-7).

A place in the final booked, a 3-0 win was the order of the day in opposition to the third seeds, Argentina’s Santiago Lorenzo, Matias Velarde and Matias Guadalupe; a contest in which Diogo Silva replaced Lauro Sebold.

Notably, at the semi-final stage the same three players on duty, a 3-2 win had been recorded by the Argentine trio in opposition to the top seeded Chilean outfit formed by Andres Martinez, Nicolas Burgos and Jorge Paredes. The player to pose the eventual silver medallists questions was Nicolas Burgos; he beat both Matias Velarde (11-9, 11-6, 11-6) and Santiago Lorenzo (11-4, 11-5, 11-7).

Similarly, in the cadet boys’ team event, there was no stopping the Brazil. Selecting Shim Joon, Henrique Noguti and Luigi Yamane, the no.2 seeds, a 3-1 penultimate round success was recorded against the no.6 seeds, the Chilean outfit formed by Santiago Funes, Josthyn Miranda and Jaime Lama, before the title was secured in an even more dominant manner. Gustavo Gertsmann preferred to Luigi Yamane, a 3-0 was posted against the top seeded Peruvian outfit formed by Adrian Rubinos, Carlos Fernandez and Rodrigo Vigo.

Impressive performances; in the cadet girls’ team event, it was even more impressive. The top seeds, the Brazilians showed no charity. Selecting Giulia Takahashi, Laura Watanabe and Karina Shiray, a 3-0 semi-final win was secured in opposition to the no.3 seeds, the Argentine formation of Divina Ding, Maitena Mendez and Manuela Pereyra, before clinching the title in a similar commanding fashion.

Fabiana Shintate replacing Karin Shiray, the same margin of victory was gained against the no.2 seeds, the Peruvian combination of Maria Maldonado, Ana Aragon and Lucciana Cisneros.

Team events concluded, attention now turns to the individual competitions, play concludes on Monday 18th March.
