Represented by Lisi Castillo, Daniela Fonseca Carranza and Idalys Lovet; Cuba, the no.8 seeds, recorded a three-one win in opposition to the no.9 seeds, Mexico’s Marbella Aceves, Clio Barcenas and Yadira Silva; the one errant contest being the success of Yadira Silva in the second match of the fixture. She accounted for Lisi Castillo in three straight games (11-8, 11-6, 17-15).

Second place for Cuba behind Brazil, for the Dominican Republic, the end result was next in line to the United States; the no.10 seeds, the trio formed by Eva Brito, Esmerlyn Castro and Yasiris Ortiz caused somewhat of an upset. They posted a three-nil win when facing the no.7 seeds, Guatemala’s Lucia Cordero, Mabelyn Enriquez and Andrea Montufar.

Likewise, Canada upset the formbook; the no.11 seeds, selecting Alicia Côté, Ivy Liao and Zhang Mo, they beat the no.5 seeds, the Colombian outfit comprising Paula Medina, Maria Perdomo and Cory Tellez by three matches to one. The one success for the Colombians came in the third match of the engagement when Cory Tellez beat Ivy Liao (9-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-9).
