Chilean Table Tennis Federation and ITTF reach deal with the sporting goods retailer with over 50 stores in Chile.

ITTF are pleased to confirm that Sparta will be sponsoring the 2018 ITTF Pan American Championships, held between 20-25 November at the CEO venue in Santiago, Chile.

Sparta is the only true sport specialist in Chile with products for virtually every sport, and it is the official sponsor of the Chile Olympic Team.

“We are very proud to be able to partner with the Chilean Table Tennis Federation in the development of this sport, and with Team Chile in portraying our brand at the highest level,” said Ms. Paula Jones, CMO of Sparta.

Mr. Henry Reimberg, President of Chilean Table Tennis Federation, stated: “We are delighted to have Sparta as the title sponsor of this event. Never before had there been a title sponsor for a continental event in our region, so we are very proud. I want to thank Sparta for their support.

“Furthermore, this is the very first time in Latin America that there is a ticket selling platform for a single table tennis event. We want to take our sport to the next level together with the ITTF and we believe that this represents a step in the right direction towards our aims and a greater all-round professionalism.”

The annual tournament will see Team, Singles and Doubles events involving many of the strongest male and female players hailing from North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. This year will see a total of almost 100 players with teams representing Canada, United States, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Argentina, Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Cuba, Guyana and of course the host nation Chile. All of them will be competing for qualification to the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, and also to the 2019 Team World Cup in Tokyo, Japan.

In last year’s Pan American Championships, Brazil won five out of seven events (Men’s Team, Women’s Team, Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles) with Puerto Rico and Canada celebrating success in the Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles events respectively.

The media coverage of this event across the region is expected to be the biggest in the history of Pan American events and will be announced soon by the ITTF.
