At the final hurdle a three-nil win was recorded against the no.9 seeds, the Chinese Taipei ‘B’ Team duo of Kuo Yu-Liang and and Tsai Li-Yang.

Chen Yuanyu beat Tsai Li-Yang (11-9, 12-10, 11-5), before Huang Yousheng accounted for Kuo Yu-Liang (12-10, 11-4, 11-4). Matters concluded with Huang Yousheng and Lin Shidong joining forces to secure a four games doubles success (7-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-9).

Impressive, a comprehensive win; earlier in the day at the quarter-final stage, life had been very different. The Chinese trio had been on the precipice of defeat when facing the top seeds, Chinese Taipei ‘A’, represented by Li Hsin-Yu and Wang Guan-Ru. A full distance five match win was the order of the day with Li Hsin-Yu being the player to cause the champions elect problems. He beat both Huang Youzheng (11-7, 11-8, 11-8) and Chen Yuanyu (11-13, 11-7, 11-6, 6-11, 6-11, 11-7).

Defeat for Huang Youzheng but he proved the Chinese saviour; after partnering Lin Shidong to doubles success (11-9, 11-5, 11-7), he accounted for Wang Guan-Ru by the very narrowest of margins in the fifth and deciding match of the engagement (11-3, 13-15, 11-1, 10-12, 13-11) to secure overall victory.

Exacting times for Chen Yuanyu, Huang Youzheng and Lin Shidong; one round later life was less fraught, a three-nil win was recorded in opposition to India’s Vishwa Deenadayalan and Payas Jain, the no.5 seeds.

A close call and a relatively comfortable win, it was the same in the opposite half of the draw for Kuo Yu-Liang and Tsai Li-Yang. After recording a three matches to nil win against the Czech Republic’s Simon Belik and Ondrej Kveton, the no.3 seeds, they needed the full five matches to end the hopes of Romania’s Darius Movileanu and Andrei Tomica, the no.2 seeds.

Mainstay of the Chinese Taipei success was Kuo Yu-Liang. He beat both Darius Movileanu (9-11, 13-11, 11-7, 12-14, 11-9) and in the crucial fifth match of the engagement, he accounted for Andrei Tomica to seal the victory (11-7, 11-7, 11-9).

The Cadet Boys’ Team event concluded; attention now turns to the Cadet Boys’ Singles, Cadet Girls’ Singles, Cadet Boys’ Doubles and Cadet Girls’ Doubles events; play in Varazdin concludes on Sunday 16th September.
