Rafael Cabrera partnered colleague Ramon Vila to success in the Under 11 Boys’ Doubles event, the pair accounting for Puerto Rico’s Yadier Lopez and Enrique Rios in the final (11-4, 11-6, 11-3).
Notably for Rafael Cabrera, further success came in the Under 11 Mixed Doubles when joining forces with Shary Muñoz. The duo secured the title at the final expense of Jamaica’s Azizi Johnson and Tsenaye Lewis (4-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-8).
Gold for Shary Muñoz, it was the same in the Under 11 Girls’ Doubles competition; partnering Arianna Estrella, in an all Dominican Republic final, the pair overcame Carolina Sosa and Vianellys Fernandez (11-8, 11-7, 4-11, 11-7).
Impressive performances, from Daymar Castro, it was no different; the Puerto Rican partnered Alanis Reyes to Under 11 Girls’ Doubles success and John Marrero to victory in the Under 11 Mixed Doubles event. In the former, at the final hurdle it was success against Trinidad and Tobago’s Priyanka Khellewan and Imani Edwards Taylor (11-8, 11-8, 11-7), in the latter when confronting the Dominican Republic’s Marcos Tavares and Cinthia Pena (11-4, 11-7, 11-9).
Defeat for the hosts but in the Under 13 Boys’ Doubles competition, it was gold; in a full distance five games final, Eduardo Darley and Oswaldy Reyes beat Guyana’s Kaysan Ninvalle and Jonathan Van Lange to secure the top prize (11-8, 4-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-7).
Play in the Under 11 Boys’ and Under 11 Girls’ Singles events, alongside the Under 13 Boys’ Singles and Under 11 Girls’ Singles competitions, now takes centre stage; play concludes on Friday 31st August.
