After accounting for Korea Republic’s Gwon Hyeokmin (11-2, 11-4, 11-4), he was beaten by Hong Kong’s Choy Chun Kit (6-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-8); earlier, Choy Chun Kit had overcome Singapore’s Daniel Ng (11-8, 11-6, 11-9) and thus emerged the only player in the group to end the day unbeaten.

Problems for Tai Ming-Wei but not for the other leading names; similar to Feng Yi-Hsin and Li Hsin-Yang; Pang Yew En Koen, like Daniel Ng from Singapore, ended the day with first place in the group secured.

Somewhat differently but successful, with one match still to play, Japan’s Takeru Kashiwa and Aoto Asazu, in addition to Portugal’s Tiago Li and Iran’s Amirreza Abbasi, ended the day unbeaten.

Impressive performances but lower down the order, notable names did experience problems. Iran’s Radim Khayyam, the no.9 seed, lost to Singapore’s Gerald Yu Zong Ju (11-9, 13-11, 7-11, 11-6) who, in his opening contest, had experienced defeat at the hands of Chinese Taipei’s Huang Yu-Jen (11-7, 11-2, 11-3). Huang Yu-Jen duly ended the day unbeaten; in his one further contest he accounted for Japan’s Kazuki Yoshiyama (11-6, 11-7, 11-7), the player Radim Khayyam had beaten in his opening engagement (11-7, 5-11, 11-7, 11-6). Radin Khayyam now meets Huang Yu-Jen in the concluding group stage fixture.

A fine effort from Huang Yu-Jen, it was the same from Japan’s Fumiya Oshima and Riki Kagami, as it was from Hong Kong’s Yu Nok and Korea Republic’s Jung Seongwan.

All ended the day unbeaten with one match still to play; all beat seeded players.

Fumiya Oshima accounted for Chinese Taipei’s, Peng Chih, the no.11 seed (11-5, 12-10, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9); Yu Nok overcame Belgium’s Nicolas Nicolas Degros, the no.13 seed (11-8, 12-10, 11-9). Meanwhile, Jung Seongwan beat Adrien Rassenfosse, the no.14 seed like Nicolas Degros, also from Belgium (4-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-8); Riki Kagami prevailed against India’s Raegan Alburquerque, the no.15 seed (5-11, 12-10, 1-11, 11-8, 11-9).
