Competing on home soil, Egypt dominated matters in the team events at the 2018 Arab Championships which overall commenced in Cairo on Monday 30th July and concluded on Monday 6th August.

Ten titles on offer, all ten finished in the hands of the North African country.

Represented by Ahmed Ali Saleh, Khalid Assar and Mohamed El-Beiali, a three-nil win recorded against the Algerian trio of Larbi Bouriah, Sami Kherouf and Mohamed Lazazi to claim the Men’s Team title.

Similarly in the Women’s Team event, a competition organised on a group basis, not one individual match was surrendered; selecting from Farah Abdel-Aziz, Reem El-Eraky, Yousra Helmy and Dina Meshref, the title was secured in style. Algeria’s Katia Kessaci, Sannah Lagsir and Islem Laid finished in second place.

Second place for Algeria behind Egypt in the Women’s Team event; it was the same in the Under 21 Women’s Team competition. Also administered on a group basis, runners up spot was the lot of Heba Feredj, Sannah Lagsir and Lynda Loghraibi. Pole position without an individual match being conceded, was secured by the trio of Sarah Abousetta, Marwa Alhodaby and Amira Yousry.

Success in style in the Under 21 Women’s Team event; it was the same in the Under 21 Men’s Team competition, the outfit comprising Youssef Abdel-Aziz, Aly Ghallab and Mahmoud Helmy recorded a three-one success in the final against Qatar’s Mohammed Abdulwahhab, Abdelrahman Al-Naggar and Abdulaziz Hajaji.

Meanwhile in the Junior Boys’ Team event, for the combination of Youssef Abdel-Aziz, Marwan Abdelwahab and Abdelrahman Dendan it was also a three-one margin of victory in the title decider when facing Tunisia’s Aboubaker Bourass, Youssef Ben Attia and Atef Saleh. Impressive, it was no different in the Junior Girls’ Team competition; Marwa Alhodaby, Mariam Alhodaby and Hend Fathy combined to secure the top prize in a group administered event.

Noteworthy performances by Egypt; likewise, the Cadet Boys’ Team title was won in style by Mohamed Azzam, Omar Ehab and Ziad Elshawa; the counterpart Cadet Girls’ Team top prize by the combination of Farida Badawy, Sara Elhakem and Hend Fathy. In the former Tunisia’s Youssef Abid, Wassim Essia and Khalil Sta finished in runners up spot, in the latter Algeria’s Melissa Belache, Amina Kessaci and Hajer Tahmi.

Eight titles secured, two more came in the Hopes competitions at the expense of Algeria. Yassine Jaber and Badr Moustapha beat Algeria’s Moheddine Bella and Yousef Aliwa to win the Boys’ Team event; Kenza Faouezi and Mariam Ibrahim secured the Girls’ title at the final expense of Moura Lazazi and Medina Seddilki.
