Second place in the group behind the Puerto Rican trio comprising Oscar Biesrriel, Angel Naranjo and Jabdiel Torres; a quarter-final place duly reserved, the Guatemalan combination formed by Sergio Carrillo, Diego de la Cruz and Abisai Ramirez ended the hopes of the host nation; a three-two win was recorded against the Costa Rica ‘A’ outfit comprising Ricardo Azofeifa, José Perez and Alfredo Sanchez.

Man of the moment for Guatemala was Diego de la Cruz; he beat both Alfredo Sanchez (11-4, 11-8, 6-11, 8-11, 11-9) and José Perez (11-6, 11-7, 11-5). The further success for the victors was secured by Sergio Carillo, in the opening match of the fixture he accounted for José Perez (13-11, 11-4, 11-6).

Tense moments for Guatemala, for Brazil life was less exacting; after finishing in first place in their group ahead of Peru’s Joel Cisneros, Carlos Fernandez and Adrian Rubinos, a three-one quarter-final success was recorded against the Panama outfit formed by David Herrera, Gabriel Lewis and Jacobo Vahnish. Mainstay of the victory was Kenzo Carmo, he beat both Gabriel Lewis (11-8, 11-9, 11-7) and Jacobo Vahnish (11-8, 11-9, 10-12, 8-11, 11-7).
