How times flies! Day three signals the penultimate day of play at the Seamaster 2018 ITTF World Tour Platinum Shinhan Korea Open in Daejeon and there's plenty to look forward to with the line-ups for the two singles finals to be decided and the presentation of the Mixed Doubles trophy taking place on Saturday 21st July.

Starting off the day’s action at 10.00am (local time) is the quarter-finals encounter between top seed Chen Meng and eighth seed Cheng I-Ching: in all four of their previous ITTF World Tour meetings the victory has always been in Chen Meng’s court but can Cheng I-Ching put that run to bed in Daejeon?

The second quarter-final will see Suh Hyowon attempt to become the sole player from the host nation to reach the last four, but the task won’t be simple as the No.15 seed prepares to face a player she is yet to get the better of with second seed Zhu Yuling providing the opposition.

Responsible for halting Dimitrij Ovtcharov’s international comeback Japan’s Jun Mizutani now faces the challenge of knocking out sixth seed Lee Sangsu, who will head into the match with the backing of the home fans. The winner of the tie will reserve a meeting with either Jeong Sangeun or Jang Woojin in the penultimate round.

China will be represented in the two remaining quarter-finals fixtures: seeded second, Lin Gaoyuan will look to avenge the straight games defeat he suffered against Hugo Calderano in Doha earlier this year when he takes on the Brazilian on day three while Liang Jingkun does battle with Korea Republic’s Lim Jonghoon.

There’s no action from either one of the Men’s Doubles or Women’s Doubles tournament scheduled for the day but we do have an exciting Mixed Doubles contest to look forward to as China’s Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha take on the United Korea outfit of Jang Woojin and Cha Hyo Sim at 3.00pm.
