In what will be the third edition of the tournament, the 2019 European Under 21 Championships are scheduled to take place over four days from Thursday 7th March through to Sunday 10th March.

Gondomar is no stranger to table tennis with the city playing host to the 2016 ITTF Europe Top 16 Cup competition and ETTU president Mr. Ronald Kramer is excited to see the sport return to the city in the early months of next year.

“We are looking forward to revisit Gondomar, after the ITTF Europe Top-16 Cup being held in the same venue in 2016, the Multiusos de Gondomar Coração de Ouro. The great experience of the Portuguese Table Tennis Federation in the past five years, is certainly helpful when now organising in the same venue a bigger event. Since the 2014 TMS European Championships held in Lisbon, this very active Federation has made major progress at the level of organising events. Aware of the enthusiastic support of the city authorities, I am more than convinced that we will have great Under 21 Championships in Gondomar in 2019. It was not without reason that Gondomar was European City of Sports in 2017.” Ronald Kramer

The president of the Federação Portuguesa de Ténis de Mesa [FPTM] Mr. Pedro Moura is also delighted with the news and is hopeful that the participants set to compete at the event will leave Gondomar with fond memories.

“The Portuguese TTF is very proud and honored to be awarded with the organisation of the 2019 European Under 21 Championships. Since 2014, Portugal has been receiving the most importants ETTU events, being this European Championships one of the few that we still did not organise. The fact that we are returning to the sportive city of Gondomar makes it even more exciting, and we hope that all participants will have great memories from the time they’ll spend in Multiusos of Gondomar.” Pedro Moura
