Presently named at no.17 on the Men’s World Rankings, Omar Assar has definite goals, one being to reach the top of the listings, practising on a regular basis in Borussia Düsseldorf is a boost to his ambitions.
“This is a golden opportunity for me. Bremen is a top club and has the best fans in the league. I’m very grateful to Werder Bremen that through them I was able to showcase myself in the Bundesliga.
I am very happy to play for Borussia and hope to do my part in a successful team but I would also like to thank the people in charge in Bremen, Sascha Greber and Cristian Tamas, for a great time. I felt very comfortable there.
I feel great and excited to join such a great club with history. It is club with a huge fans base. I am very happy to join the great team because I have a good friendship with Timo Boll, who is a good person outside the table. I hope I can add my quality to the team and I hope to use my presence in the team to open doors for more Africans and Aras to feature in the league.”
A delighted Omar Asar, it was a very similar reaction from Andreas Preuss, the Manager for Borussia Düsseldorf for over 30 years.
“Omar Assar is an international top player. He is number 17 in the world and will reinforce our team for the new season. He brings a lot of experience and is a great pro who always gives 200 per cent.
