Staged in Halmstad on the west coast of Sweden from Sunday 29th April to Sunday 6th May, the 2018 World Team Table Tennis Championships, the country’s biggest sporting event of the year, will be broadcast live on national television.

Sveriges Television (SVT), the national broadcaster funded by licence fees and thus received in every home in Sweden, recently signed a contract with the Swedish Table Tennis Association; the agreement guarantees broadcast of the company’s main channels.

It is also the first time in 20 years as that a World Table Tennis Championships has been broadcast live on SVT.

“Table tennis is a big, popular Swedish sport with many successes; I’m pleased that we can showcase the forthcoming World Championships on home soil.” Åsa Edlund Jönsson, SVT Sports Manager.

Additionally, SVT will also broadcast the finals of the forthcoming Seamaster 2017 ITTF World Tour Swedish Open to be held in the Eriksdalshallen, Stockholm.

Including the qualification tournament play at the Seamaster 2017 ITTF World Tour Swedish Open commences on Monday 13th November and concludes on Sunday 19th November.
