Recently the home for the ITTF Hopes Week and Challenge which concluded on Thursday 17th August, the National Sports Institute of Luxembourg is once again the focal point for a gathering of promising young players.

The third European Table Tennis Union Development Camp, part of the continent’s Eurotalents Programme, commenced on Sunday 27th August and will conclude on Sunday 3rd September.

Supported by the manufacturer Tibhar, organised under the auspices of the Chinese Table Tennis College – Europe and the Luxembourg Table Tennis Federation in liaison with the International Table Tennis Federation; some 26 young players alongside a team of experienced coaches are present.

All are able to enjoy the high class premises provided; a hall with no less than 20 table tennis tables is available plus a fitness centre, conference rooms and restaurant. Accommodation comprises 37 rooms of which 20 house three people, 12 are twin rooms and five single rooms.

Coaches present are very much those who were on duty for the ITTF World Hopes Week and Challenge. China’s Li Xiaodong, Gu Nan and Zheng Chaoying are once again in evidence. Further support is afforded by Martin Ostermann, the Head Coach at the Chinese Table Tennis College – Europe and Xia Cheng, also based in Luxembourg.

Throughout proceedings are organised by Croatia’s Neven Cegnar, the Development Manager for the European Table Tennis Union.

Two training sessions are held each day; from 9.00am to 12.00 noon and from 3.00pm to 6.00pm; additional meetings and seminars are held in the evening.
