Winner in Lagos in 2014, the only African player ever to win an ITTF World Tour Women’s Singles title and, alongside colleague Dina Meshref on duty for Egypt throughout the past decade at world title and other similar global events, most recently Nadeen El-Dawlatly had further cause to celebrate.

On Thursday 6th July at the Le Meridien Cairo Airport, she married fiancé, Ahmed Abdel Bary, by profession a Senior Prosecutor in Cairo.

Current leading members of the Egyptian national team, with the exception of Omar Assar who had commitments abroad, were present.

Dina Meshref, alongside Yousra Helmy and Farah Abdel-Aziz, all three on duty at the recent ITTF African Cup in Agadir attended the wedding celebrations, as did the likes of Ahmed Ali Saleh, Mohamed El-Beaili, El-Sayed Lashin and Shady Magdy. Furthermore, in addition to members of the family, Dr. Alaa Meshref, ITTF Executive Vice President and President of the Egyptian Table Tennis Federation, was a most welcome guest.

“The wedding was more than perfect because we celebrated this amazing day with all our family and close friends, many table tennis friends were there too, all of my teammates; the men’s and women’s national team; also our national team coaches. I am so happy and blessed to have them with me on that special day. It was perfect for everyone who attended.” Nadeen El-Dawlatly.

Notably Nadeen El-Dawlatly competed in both the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games; however, following the gathering in the Brazilian carnival city, table tennis had to take a back seat.

In late 2016 she underwent a knee operation, whilst earlier this year the focus had to be on study; education assumed priority. One week prior to the wedding, she graduated at the College of Engineering and Technology in Cairo.

The couple will live in Cairo.

Our best wishes for a long a happy life together; we raise our glass to Ahmed and Nadeen.

 A day to remember
