Gold medallists at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the French pairing of Fabien Lamirault and Stéphane Molliens will be on duty at the forthcoming 2017 World Para Team Championships, as will the combination of Ukraine’s Viktor Didukh and Maksym Nikolenko, likewise successful in the Brazilian city.

The inaugural event, play starts in Bratislava on Wednesday 17th May and concludes on Saturday 20th May.

In Rio de Janeiro, Fabien Lamirault and Stéphane Molliens won Men’s Team Class 1-2, Viktor Didukh and Maksym Nikolenko secured the Men’s Team Class 6-8 title.

Winners on view and there are also other notable outfits who enjoyed success in the Brazilian city that are competing in Bratislava.

Notably in Men’s Team Class 6-8, all the Rio medallists are on duty. The names of Sweden’s Emil Andersson and Linus Karlsson, the silver medallists, appear on the entry list as do those of Great Britain’s Aaron McKibbin and Ross Wilson, the duo that reserved the third step of the podium.

“The competition in Slovakia will be tough. We have a mix of youth and experience in our squad. This is an important tournament but we are also looking to the future and for our younger players this will be valuable experience in preparation for the European Championships later this year.” Gorazd Vecko, Great Britain Performance Director

Likewise, silver medallists in Men’s Team Class 3, the German pairing of Thomas Brüchle and Thomas Schmidberger will be in Bratislava action, as will both the silver and bronze medal winners in Men’s Team Class 4-5. Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Ming-Chih and Lin Yen-Hung, finished in runners up spot in Rio de Janeiro; for the Turkish trio of Abdullah Ozturk, Nesim Turan and Ali Ozturk, it was third place.

Silver and bronze medallists in action; it is the same for the pairs who reserved the second and third steps of the podium in Men’s Team Class 9-10. The Spanish trio of José Manuel Reyes, Juan Bautista Perez and Jorg Cardona are Bratslava bound, as is the Polish trio of Patryk Chojnowski, Piotr Grudzien and Marcin Skrzynecki.

Meanwhile for the ladies, Croatia’s Helena Dretar and Andela Muzinic, the silver medallists in Women’s Team Class 1-3 will compete in Bratislava, as will the Serbian combination of Borislava Peric-Rakovic and Nada Matic, the Class 4-5 runners up.

Notable pairings and there is one more; bronze medallists in Women’s Team Class 6-10 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s Bruna Alexandre, Jennifer Parinos and Danielle Rauen will compete in the capital city of the Slovak Republic.
