A successful 2016 World Veteran Championships held earlier this year May on the Costa Blanca in Alicante/Elche; now in 2017 the Spanish destination for those of more senior years is once again the shores of the Mediterranean.

Costa Daurada will be the home for an International Veteran Open Championships from Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th May 2017 and just as in the Costa Blanca, the man very much at the helm of proceedings is Jordi Serra, the Tournament Director for the very successful Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.

Combining table tennis and tourism in a quite idyllic climate, the tournament is in good hands; home for proceedings will be the Olympic Sports venue in Reus.

Pertinently, the city of Reus has its own airport; low cost airlines fly direct from several destinations in Great Britain, Germany and Netherlands. It is located very close to the Costa Daurada touristic beach area where, in Salou only seven kilometres distant, hotels are plentiful.

Furthermore, Barcelona–El Prat Airport, with low cost connections to most cities in Europe, is not too far distant; a distance of some 92 kilometres, the journey from the Catalan capital is only 90 minutes by train and thanks to a direct motorway connection, it is less by road.

Additionally, from Monday 1st May to Sunday 7th May, a very attractive accommodation deal is offered. The package includes transport between hotel and playing venue plus breakfast and dinner. The cost is €324 in a double room; thus €162 per person.

Registration is now open and if you enrol before Saturday 31st December, there is an early bird registration, a golden opportunity for the tournament on the Golden Coast.

The entry fees are in the three stages: €75.00 per player prior to Saturday 31st December, from Sunday 1st January to Friday 31st March it is €100.00 per player. The farewell dinner is €30.00.

Impressively, already players from 10 associations have registered.
