The final day of the Sun International 2016 World Junior Championship, 7th December is finally here. Today, in Cape Town, a new World Junior champion will be crowned.

In the last seven days, we have already witnessed so many ups and downs. With the Chinese team not winning the teams titles, Japan’s Mima Ito and Miu Hirano crashing out in the earlier rounds in junior girls’ singles, Romania’s doubles pair reaching the finals for the first time in junior girls’ doubles and China being knocked out of the junior boys’ doubles and mixed doubles competition, a lot of exciting matches were played.

Phew!

But today there is more in store.

The day starts at 10:00am with semi finals of the singles events. It is interesting that in both girls’ and boys’ singles, all four semi finalists will be from four different countries. In the girls, the semi final line up is:

Shi Xunyao (CHN) v/s Miyu Kato (JPN)

Mak Tze Wing (HKG) v/s Adina Diacon(ROU)

In the boys’ section the line up looks somewhat similar, instead of Romania, Korea Republic made it to final four:

Tomokazu Harimoto (JPN) v/s Yang Shuo (CHN)

Ng Pak Nam (HKG) v/s Cho Seungmin (KOR)

China will definitely be aiming to grab one of these titles as the singles are the only two events in which the Chinese campaign is still alive!

In the afternoon, mixed doubles finals will be played between Cho Seungmin/ Kim Jiho (KOR) and Yuki Matsuyama/ Hina Hayata (JPN).

Junior Girls’ doubles will be an exciting contest as Romania’s Adina Diaconu and Andreea Dragoman who made history by becoming the first Romanian pair to reach the finals of the doubles in the World Championships, will fight their hearts out to bring home the gold. They will be playing against powerhouse Japan’s Hina Hayata and Miyu Kato to fight for the crown.

Further, in the boys’ doubles, Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto/Tonin Ryuzaki will contest Korea’s An Jaehyun and Cho Seungmin to determine the World Champion in the boys’ doubles!

Excited?
