Under the leadership of Henri Djombo, table tennis received a great deal of support from the Congo Brazzaville government; notably the country hosted the African Junior Championship, African Senior Championship, African Cup as well as in 2015, the African Games in 2015.

Under the stewardship of Henri Djombo the country became title contenders in most African tournaments.

At the 2015 African Games, Congo Brazzaville emerged bronze medallists in both the Men’s Team and Women’s Team events; whilst Wang Jianan and Han Xing secured the same colour medals in the respective Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles competitions.

Success but the greatest level of success came in the doubles events. Hu Bin and Wang Jianan beat Suraju Saka and Saheed Idowu in an all Congo Brazzaville Men’s Doubles final; the Women’s Doubles title was won by Lu Yuheng and Han Xing, whilst Mixed Doubles gold finished in the hands of Wang Jianan and LiI Yuheng.

Jean-Marie Okouna will serve for a four year term and clearly he is ambitious; Congo Brazzaville has applied to host the 2017 African Cup.
