Tournaments

09 Nov 2016

Cape Town, a major port city in South Africa is the home for the forthcoming 2016 World Junior Championships; play commences on Wednesday 30th November and concludes on Friday 7th December.

It will be the second time that the tournament has been staged in the continent of Africa; the one previous occasion was in 2006 when the tournament was hosted in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo.

Notably in Cairo, the likes of Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov, Japan’s Kenta Matsudaira, Chinese Taipei’s Chen Chien-An and England’s Paul Drinkhall were on duty, as were most worthy female counterparts.

Cheng I-Ching, like Chen Chen-An from Chinese Taipei, was in action alongside Japan’s Kasumi Ishikawa, Romania’s Elizabeta Samara and China’s Wu Yang; they are all players who progressed to compete at the highest levels.

The question now beckons; who will graduate from the class of 2016?

For those members of the media who wish to surmise; enrolment is now open.
