Exchanging thoughts and ideas, discussing the best possible practices; a total of 71 coaches from 18 countries attended the recent Coaches Conference organised by the European Table Tennis Union in the Czech Republic’s capital city of Prague.

Organised in conjunction with the Development, Education and Training programmes of the International Table Tennis Federation; matters were administered by Neven Cegnar, the European Table Tennis Union’s Development Manager.

The Conference was opened by Slovenia’s Dr. Danijel Borkovic who addressed the topic “Nutrition in Table Tennis”.

He spoke about basic anatomy and physiology of digestive system in addition to nutrition and the use of food supplements.

Additionally, Makis Chamalidis PhD from France, consultant for the French Tennis Federation since 1997 spoke on the subject “Coaching is a Mental Game”; as the title suggests he highlighted the important psychological role a coach plays.” 

Matters concluded with Sweden’s Anders Johansson highlighted problems which may be caused by excessive change.

A successful conference came to an end; the Czech Table Tennis Association and the city of Prague had proved perfect hosts.
